Neighborhood description
The district of the Olympic Village was built on the occasion of the 1960 Rome Olympics to host the athletes. It is a project published in all the important texts relating to the architecture of those years as well as the Palazzetto dello Sport and the Corso Francia viaduct which crosses it, both designed by Pierluigi Nervi. A few steps from the house the Auditorium Parco della Musica designed by the architect. Renzo Piano (in which are the remains of a Roman villa and a spectacular display of Attic and Etruscan vases), which teems with initiatives of all kinds throughout the year (including the Film Festival). The Maxxi museum, a recent work by the architect, can be reached on foot. Zaha Hadid is also interesting both as a location and for the artistic initiatives that follow one another, as well as the Teatro Olimpico, a center for concerts and theatrical events. 10 minutes from the house you can reach Ponte Milvio and the surrounding area which is one of the most famous areas of Roman nightlife: bars - disco bars - trattorias - pizzerias - restaurants - numerous wine bars and pubs. Today the Olympic Village is one of the emerging areas in Rome for cultural initiatives and is particularly appealing for its characteristic architecture, for the correct spacing of the buildings, for its position in the greenery and for being very close to the historic centre, while remaining quiet and for those who want it (for the younger ones) close to the nightlife (500 m.) of Ponte Milvio, a splendid example of a Roman bridge (now pedestrian) which guaranteed access to Rome from the North. Beyond Ponte Milvio, always within walking distance, the sports area of ​​Mussolini, memory of the Stadio Olimpico (place of football matches and mega concerts), the Stadio dei Marmi, the Piscine Olimpiche, the stadium where the International Tennis are held. There are many restaurants, bars and characteristic bars close to our house. A large Carrefour supermarket can be reached with a few minutes on foot (200 m. open 24 hours a day).
