When traveling to DC, you shouldn't miss out on exploring all of the places that the Smithsonian offers. Most are free! We recommend: Air & Space Museum, American History Museum, Hirschorn, and the Natural History Museum.
It's worth while to spend a day touring the Memorials and Monuments. There are so many! Many guides offer tours of the monuments by moonlight, which can be a really great way to get to many and see them all lit up at night!
If you want to get out and get moving, you could walk from our house to the U. S. Capitol Building (about 1 mile to the Capitol) and walk down the hill to the National Mall, where most of the museums are. If you prefer to ride, you can take a quick Uber or Lyft (approximately a 10 minute ride) to be dropped off in the National Mall area and walk to many museums that are close by.
There are many restaurants at Eastern Market (just 4 blocks from us) including Duck & Peach and La Collina. And, there is a Mexican restaurant we recommend not far from us- Paraiso! For your morning coffee you can walk to Eastern Market and grab some brew at our favorite- Peregrine.
We would also recommend heading to Navy Yard (less than 10 minute Uber/ Lyft ride) where there are a number of restaurants- we would suggest Osteria Morini, Chloe, Blue Jacket, The Salt Line and All Purpose Pizza. There are also a ton of places to grab a quick, cheaper meal such as Sweet Green Salad, Nando's Peri Peri, and Takorean.

Capitol Hill, located in Washington D.C, is a fantastic place to explore on foot as it offers many historic landmarks to visit during short strolls. While walking around Capitol Hill, visitors can enjoy the beautiful architecture of the charming townhouses and take in views of the iconic U.S Capitol Building (only 1 mile away!).
For those who prefer faster transportation, the Metro provides an excellent option for getting around Capitol Hill without worrying about traffic or parking. The Capitol South, Eastern Market and Union Station metro stations are all conveniently located within Capitol Hill, providing easy access to nearby attractions, such as Nationals Park, The National Mall, and Smithsonian Museums. Our carriage house is 5 blocks away from the Eastern Market Metro- less than a 10 minute walk!
Rideshare services, like Uber and Lyft, also provide convenient transportation options for visitors exploring Capitol Hill. These services offer reliable, on-demand transportation in minutes, making getting around the neighborhood a breeze.
