We had a magical stay at Kuniko’s place. We didn’t have a car so Kuniko kindly picked us up from the train station. We loved the really quiet peaceful surroundings, and it was lovely to walk to the small nearby temples and swim in the river. At night there were dozens of fireflies sparkling over the tranquil gurgling river. Kuniko was a delightful host throughout and brought us some lovely local specialities to try. An absolute gem of a place and we just wish we’d had longer!

Kuniko’s place was a mountain sanctuary with an artist’s touch! We woke up each morning to the tranquil sound of the river. The host welcomed us and even left us some local sushi and drinks to enjoy upon arrival! She made reservations for us at a traditional Soba noodle place just down the road and recommended swimming spots along the river. We felt right at home and enjoyed escaping the crowds of Golden Week to spend time in the peaceful village of Higashi Yoshino. We especially enjoyed visiting the local shrine and waterfall, which was a short walk from the AirBnb. Thank you for a lovely stay! We are so grateful!

A gorgeous space in a beautiful landscape, the atelier is a great place to unwind and relax in nature. Kuniko was very warm and friendly while she showed us around the studio space which is very well equipped. We really enjoyed the variety of dishes and tea cups! Also, waking up to sunlight and the sound of birds and the river flowing is unparalleled. We did a hike nearby and saw a variety of animals and plants, and also several waterfalls and later went to the onsen to relax. The large wooden bath was also a highlight, very charming. Would love to visit again!

we had a magical stay at this lovely, charming home. Kuniko and get husband we wonderfully welcoming and kind, the house is full of gorgeous art and ceramics and the cedar bath if the piece de resistance. Theres lots to do nearby but most of all we loved just wandering up the river to swim...glacial but gorgeous in April and reading in the atelier. Do visit Soni and Yoshino though, and we were so lucky to be there during Sakura and went to the most increduble blossom filled valley. (Kuniko will tell you where it is) thank you so much

My daughter and I had a fantastic time at Kuniko's house. I was initially concerned about transportation to get there, but Kuniko kindly picked us up from the train station, which was about a 40-minute drive from there. Kuniko also took us to the grocery store and a local cookie shop, which was perfect for us. During our stay, we enjoyed walks, swimming, and shopping at small stores open on the weekends, and we were fortunate to have a soba lunch right next to her house. Relaxing at her place was a unique experience, especially for my daughter. She now says she can imagine the Japanese countryside when she reads books, which makes her very happy. Many thanks to Kuniko!
