A conveniently located, bright, clean, quiet, comfortable and spacious suite with private entrance, full kitchen, private laundry and one comfy queen sized bed (optional single air mattress can be booked for extra charge). Includes a sunny dining area with a big bright window for beautiful views of the water. Taller guests (over 6') please read Other Details To Note. My home is located on the Gorge, a tidal (salt) waterway used by kayakers, paddlers, and swimmers; lined by a well-groomed park that is popular with walkers, runners and anyone who wants to sit a while on the many benches along the way. Perfectly situated for access to ferries, airport (YYJ), Island Highway, Amica on the Gorge, Royal Roads University, Camosun College, the Victoria General Hospital. A couple of minutes' walk to Amica on the Gorge. Southern Vancouver Island is abundant in amazing artisans, brilliant bakers, phenomenal farmers and marvellous markets. I have put together a binder with my recommendations of places to go, local shopping and favourite places to eat. The suite is suitable for up to 2 people, as there is one queen sized bed (no sofa, no sofabed). I have a spare guest room that can adjoin the suite, but that would have to be booked separately after booking the suite. I have a (single) air bed for one extra person ($10/night). I think you'll find it a lovely, clean and comfortable place to rest up, gaze out at the view, and plan your days out. TALL (6' plus) GUESTS PLEASE READ "Other things to note" below before booking.

Een prima plek om een paar dagen in Victoria te verblijven zonder de drukte van de binnenstad maar deze is met openbaar vervoer goed bereikbaar. Prachtige omgeving aan het water. Het appartement is van alle gemakken voorzien en zelfs de keukenkastjes zijn gevuld met koffie/thee/kruiden enz. Rhona is een vriendelijke en behulpzame gastvrouw.
Rhona’s location was fabulous. It provided cozy cottage vibes in a beautiful neighborhood. There was a secure location for our bikes, and the proximity to bike lanes made our stay perfect for the trip we planned. I couldn’t recommend staying with Rhona enough :)
Rhona's place was perfect for our stay in Victoria! The location is great - right by the gorge inlet and a quick drive to downtown. I brought my kayak and even kayaked in the river. It was so lovely! Rhona also provided nice kitchen ingredients (oil, spices, butter, eggs) and even included cookies for us. She was very communicative and helpful. I forgot a mug in a paper bag by the recycling bin and she had double checked our recycling, caught it for me, and reached out to give it back. We really enjoyed our time in Victoria! One thing to note: Just a heads up (literally), if you are on the taller side, it may be a bit challenging to stay in her place because it is technically a basement / ground level space. My partner is almost 6'2 and his head was nearly touching the ceiling! He got used to it quickly, but if you are tall, just be mindful of that.
Two great features inside the suite are the bathroom and the eating area. The bathroom is very roomy with great lighting. There's a long counter to set out all your things! The eating area is in a lovely little nook with a window that looks out to the Gorge Waterway. It is a very cheery space. Rhona left nice little touches that showed thoughtfulness - home made cookies, fresh cut flowers on the table and lovely natural scented soap in the bathroom. The location is ideal. It's very quiet. There are lots of walking trails and parks nearby. Local attractions are only a few minutes away by car.
We loved walking along the water and the beautiful parks.

The best thing about the Gorge Tillicum neighbourhood is the Gorge, a tidal waterway right across the road, which you can sit and look at from the dining table.
The Gorge Walkway has been beautifully developed and is well maintained and popular with walkers, runners, rowers, canoe/ kayak / dragon boat paddlers, birds, seals and even - in the heat of summer - with swimmers.
It's a bike-friendly neighbourhood with quiet side streets and bike lanes on the main thoroughfare, connecting you with the Galloping Goose bike trail, which spans a total of 60km of gorgeous West Coast scenery.
It's a quiet residential area with good transportation links (road and bus) - downtown/university bus stops 5-10 minutes walk away - and a great position for getting out of town, whether to head up-island, out to the Western Communities or the West coast of the island, or go to/from airport and ferries.
Most essentials can be found within walking distance / short drive / bus ride - grocery stores, coffee shops, pharmacies, post office, medical clinics, fitness centre, library, movie theatres and a few (chain) restaurants. There's a bakery/cafe about 10 minutes' walk door to door.
City bus stops (routes 14 and 24/25) a 5-10 minute walk away: they run downtown and to the University of Victoria (parking is becoming tight downtown so it's a good option).
Ten minutes drive/taxi/bus from downtown (and Seattle/Pt Angeles ferries); 12 minutes drive from Royal Roads University; 9 minutes from Victoria General Hospital; half an hour from the airport, Vancouver & Anacortes ferries. A couple of minutes from highway access. And a five minute walk to Amica on the Gorge, if you're visiting relatives there.
Three sports centres (two with a pool, one with an ice rink) and libraries within a 5-10 minute drive, all on bus routes. Waterfront walks (or runs) right across the road.
It's a popular cycling area too: a six minute cycle from the Galloping Goose bike trail and within easy reach of bike, paddleboard & kayak rentals.
