Luxuriate in the hot tub surrounded by breathtaking scenery at this house dating from 1963. The interiors were decorated by Julia Chasman Design with a blend of mid-century modern and vintage style with original art complementing the unique decor. The decor includes many art works and objects of value. There is a Nespresso Pixie espresso machine, Electric coffeemaker, classic vintage stove including 2 ovens, 6 burners, and 2 broilers, and a microwave oven. There is a toaster, standing blender, Mini-chop and hand-blender The patio has a large Weber gas grill, and a Solo Stainless Steel Firepit, 2 lounges, and a full set of patio furniture -- couch, and two chairs, with table.
The house was redesigned by architect Duane Smith of Hundred Mile House in Palm Springs, with interiors by Julia Chasman Design. A new large bathroom was added with a beautiful claw-foot tub underneath a skylight, as well as a large walk-in shower with a rain shower head, and a large double vanity. The original bathroom was redesigned with a mixture of vintage style, and modern conveniences, and finished off with radical cactus wallpaper. The kitchen continues the mix with a restored O'Keefe & Merritt double oven and modern stainless steel fridge and dishwasher. A Nespresso coffee maker makes restaurant-quality cappucinos and the kitchen is well-stocked for cooking. The mid-century orange fireplace is decorative only, as the current building codes will not allow it to be used --- so please do not attempt to use it!! A new outdoor fire pit is going in this weekend though -- right on the back patio next to the hot tub.
The whole place is yours -- including boulders for climbing!

The house is in Joshua Tree, just 3 miles from the National Park. There’s a charming series of small towns close by, including JT, Yucca Valley, Pioneertown and 29 Palms, studded with vintage shops, ethnic restaurants, cafes and charming new stores.
The house has a double covered carport and there is plenty of room for more cars in the capacious driveway. You will certainly need a car, but you are only 2 miles from town, and 3 miles from the north entrance to the Park.
The house is full of artwork to nourish the soul -- with a big TV and Stereo system for entertainment, as well as a selection of books, and board games --- Scrabble, Backgammon, Anagrams, Boggle and Bananagrams in addition to regular playing cards for old-fashioned gin rummy or Hearts! Do you play the piano? I have a beautiful 1920 Hamilton piano which has been totally restored, and a selection of show tunes and classical sheet music. I'll be adding a guitar soon -- or bring your own!
I must add a note about the Hot Tub. It is in fine working condition, and kept at a constant temperature of 104 degrees. It is maintained by a Pool maintenance company, and the water is tested at least once a week for chlorination and Ph factor -- which tests the oils or other outside factors in the spa. The Hot Tub is expensive to maintain, and its cleanliness depends in part on the consideration and cleanliness of guests when using it. The ideal would be that everyone takes a quick shower before entering the tub. Things like body lotion, sunscreen, etc tend to come off in the water, and make it less clean for the next user. I realize that it's a lot to ask to shower each time you want to go in -- but -- if you have just come back from a strenuous hike, for example, or if 5 or even 6 of you are going to pile in (that is the absolute max!) I would really appreciate it it you could rinse off before using it. I am happy to pay for the regular maintenance of the spa, but I have not added any special fees for users; just be aware that each time I have to drain and refill the spa it costs me $165. While I do this periodically, I don't want to have to do it more than is usual. If I find that it's necessary, and I have just recently refilled the spa -- I may ask you to bear the cost of that refill if I feel the rules haven't been respected. I hope this is not necessary, and I'm trying to avoid adding a special spa use fee, which some hosts do charge. So please just be aware! The other issue is that spa chemicals are strong, and while we test each week to make sure they are just right -- some people are extra-sensitive to chlorine or bromine, which is used to keep the spa clean. If you are one of these people, then I suggest you forego the Hot Tub and use the divine clawfoot bathtub instead! I can't be responsible for any skin reactions, or bathing suit color change -- though we do our best to avoid anything like that! Thank you for understanding!
