A historic home built in 1889 and lovingly restored. Furnished with solid wooden furniture and a country feel. The perfect setting to relax in the tranquility of nature. In easy walking distance of the historic town centre and the wetlands, which are a world famous birding site. Fantastic restaurants and local craft beers. A popular wedding venue and acces to private game reserves and trout fishing. Many festivals and activities like the Wakkerstroom music festival.

Vlei House

A large, comfortable, self - catering holiday house. Walking distance to both the Wetland Reserve and Wakkerstroom Village. Tranquil, with a very large garden that leads onto the 'vlei'. It is perfectly located within Wakkerstroom. We deliberately do not have wifi or television so as to enjoy the 'digital detox' that Wakkerstroom offers. There is erratic mobile network coverage in Wakkerstroom and at Vlei House. There are TVs at the hotel and some pubs, in need.

Sunbird Cottage -放松的农场度假胜地

Sunbird Cottage is on a working farm 30km from Volksrust and Wakkerstroom Wetlands, it is a place to come and relax and recharge, we are off grid. There is great birding, walking, mountain biking and bass fishing on site, there are also kayaks for the dams. The cottage overlooks a gorge that goes down to the Slang River with an indigenous forest and has great views over the valley towards Amajuba Mountain and Battlefields for those interested in history.

Dragonfly cottage is a spacious 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom home on the vlei. enjoy easy access to everything from this centrally located place with the most amazing views. Fireplaces, heaters, electric blankets, bathroom heaters ensure you have a warm and wonderful time in Dragonfly. Watch marsh harriers hunt or crowned cranes fly by whilst relaxing on the stoop with the bi fold doors open. Or walk to town (600m) or down the the bird hides (1km) .

A lovely characterful home bordering on the scenic Wakkerstroom wetland. A prime birding area, peaceful, quiet and easy walking distance to the village and it's variety of shops, resturant, pubs etc. Sweeping views of the wetland and mountains, perfect for bird and storm watching. Lush and green in summer, dryer in the winter months.

This town was our home for three years and sadly we had to move to the city, away from the peace,tranquillity and charm of the Vleiland-town But that opened up the opportunity for us to share our house and secrets of Wakkerstroom with many a traveller.

Modern farm cottage with a view of the vlei and mountains. Visit our little paradise and enjoy the wonderful birdlife, sunsets and friendly town. Lots to do and see, come kick back and relax in this calm, stylish space. We are 2,3km from the Main street in Wakkerstroom just before you enter the town.

Stone Cottage

Our stone cottage lies in the mountains with beautiful views and wonderful weather. There are challenging hikes and leisurely walks for our guests. We farm with cattle and also have sheep and horses. This is a place of tranquility and beauty. The perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle.
